I’m sure you wouldn’t want your house to look like a rainbow, right? It is always good to have variety in the paints you choose for your exterior, but having too much will make your house look comical and somewhat born out of a fairy tale. That’s why it’s very important to strike a balance. A good way to do this is by staying with one family—color family that is.
It is important to contrast colors as this will draw attention to the details of your house’s architectural design. However, too much contrast can actually work towards the opposite. That’s why it’s always safe to stay within one color family. Playing with lighter and darker shades of one color should be effective in creating effective accents.
