Even though you’re the one designing and paying for the construction of your kids room, at the end of the day it’s still your kids who are going to be sleeping there. I’m sure that you’ll have your own taste and idea of how you want the room to look like. However, keep in mind that your child’s opinion counts too. After all this is going to be his room, right?
Be sure that your kid will like whatever additions you make in his room. Plastic glow-in-the-dark stars are always a popular choice for kids of all ages, but it is still important to take his preferences into consideration. What may seem cute to you might even be too childish for him.

In order to be useful, bedrooms need to have ample lighting. The same holds true for kids room. In fact lighting is even more crucial in their room as you don’t want your kids fumbling along in the dark. That’s why it is important to make sure that your kids room has just the right amount of lighting.
A good tip is to make use of light fittings that are easy on the eyes. There is a variety of light fixtures to choose from. You could hang playful wall lights or you can even opt for conventional lampshades. Add some flavor to them by asking your kids to color the plain lampshades and put in their own accents. Just be sure that when they do this, they’re under your supervision.

As with any other room in the house, hanging a few paintings or photos on the wall is sure to lift the mood. The good thing about kids rooms is that you don’t need to put up expensive art pieces; in fact, you can hang just about anything you’d like so long as it has some relevance to your kid.
A lot of folks opt for enlarged photographs of their kids or even framed artworks they created in kindergarten school. There are also some specialty stores that offer to print your child’s name in big bold letters that incorporates a number of his photos. These things will not only brighten up the room but they are also sure to keep precious memories of your kids alive.

Because of all the complexities involved in designing a kids room, it’s very easy to get lost and end up paying too little attention on the important things. One of the elements you must never forget is the bed as this is pretty much the centerpiece of your child’s room.
In picking a good bed you must consider two things. The bed you end up getting should be both comfortable and cool. It should be comfy enough for your kid to get a good night’s sleep while staying cool and stylish, depending on what your kid enjoys. There are a variety of options—from the ever-popular race car bed all the way to a playful cartoon character-themed bed.

In designing kids rooms there are some very important guidelines that you must live by. One of them is the fact that you are not trying to bring forth a feeling of tranquillity. Instead, a kids room should be all about three things: fun, fun, and even more fun.
This is why it is suggested that you incorporate as much colourful prints as you can inside the room. Aside from making use of printed and colourful wallpapers, you can also bring in some fabrics that are vivid and have wonderful designs. You can choose from a variety of fabric types such as crinkled taffeta, holographic stretch velvet, chiffon, rayon, and spandex which are all perfect for a kids room.

One of the advantages of designing a kids bedroom is that you can use as much color as you want. Unlike other bedrooms that should restrict you to a reasonable amount of color combinations, kids rooms give you the permission to go all out. You can pick lively and wonderful colors and your kids room will still look cool and sane.
However, always remember that even if this is a kids room you still have boundaries. Even if you decide to use a myriad of colors, be sure that you remain consistent with the room’s theme. Consider shades of yellows, reds, or oranges as these colors are sure to animate the room by making it more energetic and bubbly.

Unlike other rooms that have designs that should last a lifetime, most kids rooms require changes as your child grows older. Obviously, designing a 7-year-old’s room will require a different style as compared to a room of a 12-year-old. Thus, extra care must be taken.
It is important to design a room that reflects your child’s age. I’m sure your 13-year-old son wouldn’t want his room filled with inferences to the Teletubbies or to Blue’s Clues. The room’s design should remind him of his age and shouldn’t hinder his maturing process. It’s always a good idea to ask for his opinion as it will also make him fell more important and capable of making decisions on his own.

Designing kids rooms should be no different than how you would design any other room in the house. You should be putting in the same effort as you did when you designed your own bedroom. This means that one of the first and most important steps in the process is picking a theme.
The best part of designing a kids room is that it doesn’t need to match the overall design of your house. There are loads of themes to choose from such as cartoons, sports, fantasies, or anything else you think your kid will love. After all, it’s a kids room and you’re permitted to have some fun; so take advantage of it.
